For years one of the songs that alway’s hit me the hardest had to be “Grandpa” by [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Justin Moore[/lastfm]. I remember the night he sang it at Coyote Joes during one of our famous Stout Pulls, and the whole crowd sang word by word with him. Now theres a new song that makes the hair stand on your neck, and a tear run down your cheek no matter how BIG of a guy you are.
If you know anything about Justin, you know that his Grandpa was one of the most influential men in his life. He speaks about him a few times throughout different songs, but when it came to loosing him a few years ago it tore up Justin.
I remember losing my grandmother a few months before I heard the news about Justin, and I felt his pain. Now with his new song it hits home with so many more people. Sometimes you have to take the word “him” and switch it with “her” or even a small detail but everyone can relate.
I don’t know one person that wouldn’t want a chance to say goodbye to a loved one. After all if “Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” maybe we would be able too. I guess thats why you should never second guess telling someone how much they mean to you. Never know when it might be your last chance to tell them how you feel.
Feel free to share your story of how this song has affected you, or how you can relate.
