[photogallerylink id=41937 align=right] April 20 was a night never to forget. Not only did a whole ton of loyal 1037 WSOC listeners invade the NASCAR Hall of Fame, but Albemarle’s own [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kellie Pickler[/lastfm] lit up the stage. The American Idol beauty gave an intimate performance all benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
If you couldn’t go or if you want to remember every detail of the amazing night, look no further. We’ll show you pictures of Kelly, amazing fan photos and why [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kellie Pickler[/lastfm] shed a few tears to her hometown crowd.
[photogallerylink id=42023 align=left] Fans began to line up even before 5 pm at the NASCAR Hall of Fame (doors weren’t even until 6:30!) in order to gain a close spot to Miss Pickler herself. With help from Make-A-Wish Foundation and the amazing sponsors, fans were able to walk the red carpet to a night that they’ll always remember.
Catherine Lane from Tanner in the Morning and Debbie from The Charlie & Debbie Show hosted the event, wearing their brand new shoes from Heels.com and getting glammed up for the crowd. The night started out with a fashion show featuring local boutiques Tempt, Apricot Lane, Eye Candy & Revolution. Walking the Glory Road Runway to some of the best country songs, all the models put on a fierce show.
It wasn’t long after the much anticipated [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kellie Pickler[/lastfm] took the stage! Though her set was only supposed to be five songs, Kellie made sure everyone in the room felt as close and personal to her as possible. Stopping after her second song “I Wanna Be Married (I Wanna Be Single Too)“, to which she told the audience “Don’t tell Kyle I sang this, he hates this song,” Kellie decided an impromptu question and answer session was in order.
[photogallerylink id=42014 align=right] The most notable question prompted a bit of tear shed from Kellie. She told the story of her journey towards Idol saying her original Memphis audition date was canceled due to Hurricane Katrina and the only other available date was too far and pricey in Chicago. She started to choke up when she remembered getting on her knees and praying, thinking it wasn’t meant to be.
[photogallerylink id=42570 align=left]But the story had a happy ending when just a few days later, the Memphis American Idol date was rescheduled to her home state in Greensboro. She exclaimed joyously “Jesus brought American Idol to me!” It was an intimate moment for Kellie when she explained no one had heard that story before because she’s never really told it.
True love for the Carolinas!
