I have a fraternity brother from college that I’ve recently re-connected with on Facebook. He’s a native on Crawford, Texas. In fact, his family’s ranch is the one purchased by President Bush as his retreat. I’ve always been amused by that. If that land could tell the tales that I’ve seen and been a part of BEFORE the President arrived…anyway, I digress.
Kevin is also one who has chased, fought, and now…hopefully, overcome some serious demons in his life. He’s a coach and counselor at a central Texas high school and posts something he calls the “DAILY RIPPLE” on his FB page.
What he put up yesterday, speaks to all of us, but to me…it also spoke to the great change in the life of the man who wrote it. From time to time, I’m going to be stealing the “Daily Ripple” for this segment. Trust me, if this guy can make the strides in life that HE has, there his no obstacle to great for the rest of us.
“To err is human, but when the eraser wears out ahead of the pencil, you’re overdoing it.”
It’s okay to make mistakes, but we shouldn’t live a life of excuses.
Excuses keep us apart from ourselves and others. People don’t trust us if we won’t admit and accept our mistakes. Relying on excuses dooms us to repeat the same ones.
“At the end of BLAME is ME”
Thanks Kevin. I’m so proud of you, and so very proud to be your brother.
And that’s something you can hang your hat on.
