Jake Owen Plays Spur Of The Moment Show
We’re all big fans of Mr. Jake Owen here at The New 1037. Personally I’m a fan of his pearly whites but that’s a different story.
This past weekend Jake had to cancel his charity concert in his hometown of Vero Beach, Florida due to bad weather. With Jake being the awesome guy he is, he didn’t let the rain stop him from raising money for his charity. Every year one weekend is set aside for Mardy’s Tennis and Jake’s Music Fest. Each year Jake co hosts the event with tennis pro Mardy Fish.
Disappointed at the cancellation, Jake headed straight for the Riverside Café, where he first got his start singing in college, and held a spur of the moment show for the standing-room-only crowd. Chris Young was also supposed to play the charity concert and joined in on the impromptu show.
“I hold this benefit every year, and it’s always a lot of fun,” Jake told the Boot. “I always have buddies come out to play it with me, like Chris Young.” Jake says that’s one of the many things he loves about the country music community, is how they support each other.
The concert will be rescheduled for a later date at the Vero Beach Sports Village at Holman Stadium, which was the home of the L.A. Dodgers Spring Training for 60 years. Jake’s charity raises money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and children’s athletic and music programs in the Vero Beach area.
