Today Willie Nelson released a video shot during the recording of his new song “Roll Me Up.”
Friends helping out on the song include Willie’s old pal Kris Kristofferson, as well as Jamey Johnson and Snoop Dogg. The video shows Kristofferson having a good time laying down some vocal tracks with Nelson and his band.
You can stream the entire song on Willie’s website. “Roll Me Up” appears on his upcoming album Heroes, due out May 15 on Legacy Recordings. Willie is scheduled to perform the song on the CMT Music Awards on June 6, and as his website reports, “you never know who will appear with him.”
This week Willie also posted a short clip of him performing an acoustic version of “A Horse Called Music,” another song from Heroes.
The song was written by Wayne Carson, A Nashville Songwriters Hall of Famer whose written many classics including “Always on My Mind” (Willie), “The Letter” (The Box Tops), and “Slide Off Your Satin Sheets” (Johnny Paycheck). It was the title track to a 1989 Willie album and appears in a new version on Heroes. This clip was shot on Willie’s tour bus (and features him picking a guitar that is not his old friend Trigger).
