Make some more room on that mantle, Taylor Swift! The songstress can add another award honor to her repertoire from one of the most famous families in America. The newly dark-haired singer will be receiving the Ripple of Hope Award from the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rightsthis December.
The award honors leaders in entertainment, business and social activists who work to make a change in society. With Taylor’s efforts to inspire and change the younger generation, organization president Kerry Kennedy knew the fit was perfect. “Taylor Swift’s dedication to advocacy at such a young age continues to inspire me, and I’m delighted to honor her as one of our 2012 Ripple of Hope Award recipients.”
He continued in the statement to rave about her accomplishments: “as a young person, Taylor has already accomplished so much, and I look forward to watching all that she will do to help build a brighter, more peaceful world for us all.”
Swift will join previous prestigious honorees including President Bill Clinton, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Bono, George Clooney and Vice President Al Gore.
The Kennedy’s aren’t the first philanthropic organization to take notice of the songstress. Just this past week she received a nomination from the VH1 Do Something Awards, which honors leaders 25 and younger who work to change the world. The awards will air August 21 at 9/8c on VH1.
The Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights awards ceremony will take place on December 3 and will be hosted by actor Alec Baldwin.
