NBC revealed today that they have selected a new voice for the “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” theme song, famously used to open Sunday Night Football on NBC.   Six-time GRAMMY winner country superstar Carrie Underwood will take the reigns as the new voice of the program.

“I am thrilled to be a part of NBC’s Sunday Night Football and am so honored they asked me,” said Underwood to NBC. “I have always loved football season, and it is so exciting to now become part of it every Sunday night!”

Underwood’s debut on the program is slated for the September 8th broadcast which includes rivals Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants and will continue every Sunday night for the remainder of the 2013 season.  For the past six years, Faith Hill has had the honor of performing the song as well as Pink in 2006.

Currently, Underwood is on the road supporting her latest album Blown Away which will continue through May.
