Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, the boys of Florida Georgia Line, are already making Billboard history with their first single “Cruise”.  Though they’re well into promoting their follow up single “Get Your Shine On” it’s their debut song that put these boys in the limelight.

Not only on the country charts, but on top of the charts.  For the 12th week, Florida Georgia Line sits comfortably atop the Billboard Hot Country chart which is the longest a duo has topped the ranking since Carl Butler & Pearl in 1962 with their duet “Don’t Let Me Cross Over” which spent 11 weeks at number one.

While the song originally spent three weeks on top of the country charts in December 2012, it was their Nelly-infused remix that pushed it straight back into the reigning position.  Not only is the song a hit on the country charts but also is one of the biggest digital gainers with 189,000 downloads last week.  Additionally, it’s positioned on the Pop Songs chart and is the highest Streaming Gainer of the year.

The ranking is thanks to a new methodology among Billboard charts that includes radio airplay, sales and streaming.  Until this past fall, only radio airplay was a factor.  With this new methodology, “Cruise” holds the longest chart-topping run title while Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” trails closely behind with 10 weeks.

Florida Georgia Line is currently supporting Luke Bryan’s Dirt Road Diaries tour which is making 41 stops across the country from May to October, including Charlotte on July 12.
