Cory Monteith’s Best ‘Glee’ Performances
It was a sad day this past weekend as news came forward that 31-year-old Glee star Cory Monteith passed away in his Vancouver hotel room. As of now (July 15) no information on his cause of death has been determined but one thing’s for sure… the world lost an undeniable talent.
Best known for his role as Finn on the Fox TV show, Monteith took over the small screen with his booming voice and boyish good looks. It wasn’t until recently he came forward and admitted his problem with substances. After a brief stint in rehab, he came back to the limelight with girlfriend and co-star Lea Michele by his side. Sadly, on July 13, his battle overtook him.
So let’s remember this rising talent with his best performances on Glee.
“I Can’t Fight This Feeling Anymore” – REO Speedwagon
This song brought Finn into the glee club, New Directions, after Mr. Shue heard him singing it in the locker room showers in the series’ pilot episode.
“Just the Way You Are” – Bruno Mars
Glee is notorious for showcasing the so-called ‘misfits’ in society and this song embodies just that. Finn sings this to Kurt when, after not standing up for him to his football buddies, he tries to tell his glee club buddy that you’re perfect whether gay, straight and everything in between.
“Don’t Stop Believin’,” – Journey
This song is the anthem for Glee. It debuted in the pilot episode (and came back in the past season when Rachel was auditioning in New York) and remained the tagline for the series.
“Fight for Your Right (To Party!)” – Beastie Boys
Finn takes to the drums in this Beastie Boys cover at a big blow out bash.
“The Scientist” – Coldplay
After a slew of dramatic breakups and difficulties between the high school couples on the show, Finn sings this Coldplay classic while flashback of his relationship (as well as his classmates) appear on the screen.
”Jessie’s Girl” – Rick Springfield
The perfect song for Finn… he sang this song when Rachel was in lust with a new guy named Jessie.
“Faithfully” – Journey
The true romance between Finn and Rachel shows during this performance at regionals, opening up to the two singing to each other as they sang down the walkways of the auditorium.
“Without You,” David Guetta feat. Usher
While this song doesn’t feature Cory on it, real life girlfriend Lea Michele took the reigns on this David Guetta hit, whose words mean much more to her now than ever before. “I lost my heart, I lost my mind without you.”
