Top 5 Country Albums Of 2014 (So Far)
Since the start of 2014, it has been raining new country albums, so much so that 2014 could be called the year of country.
With so many new releases, it’s definitely hard to narrow it down to the best albums, and nearly impossible to say for certain that these will remain the best throughout the year — as there are many country albums releases still to come.
Without further ado, here are the best country album releases so far in 2014:
5. Jon Pardi may not have been a household name before the release of ‘Write You A Song‘ but the country music singer has definitely solidified his place in the country music scene with songs like ‘What I Can’t Put Down’ and ‘Up All Night.’ Pardi’s sound takes us back and is reminiscent of old school country.
4. It’s no surprise that Dierks Bentley’s album made this list. ‘Riser‘ is filled with raw and real music throughout the album. The lyrics hold a lot of truth about the ups and downs of everyday life, trials and tribulations — and listeners can definitely relate to the compelling and nostalgic references depicted in Bentley’s music.
3. David Nail definitely showed us a different aspect of his vocal depth and range with the release of ‘I’m A Fire.‘ Furthermore, Nail’s new album gives us insight into the lighter side of his life. After years of releasing sad and serious songs, the release of ‘I’m A Fire‘ came as a bit of a surprise — but, after years of battling depression, the singer is now at a different point in his life. That’s evident in hits such as the upbeat ‘Whatever She’s Got.‘ Undoubtedly, this is a new chapter for Nail, both professionally and personally.
2. Dan + Shay’s first encounter may have been under odd circumstances (they first met in a tent) but there is nothing odd about their vocal capabilities as a duo — in fact the combination is magical. Dan and Shay are fairly fresh faces in the country music scene, but don’t let that aspect fool you — this duo is here to stay. ‘Where It All Began’ is a true testament of their journey, so much so that the album topped the country music charts. In doing so, they became the first duo in history to ever claim the number one spot with a debut album. You can expect more catchy tunes such as ’19 You + Me’ in the near future from this duo.
1.The top album of 2014 so far respectfully is ‘The Outsiders.’ Eric Church stayed true to who he is while recording this album — we wouldn’t expect anything else from this North Carolina Native. Throughout the album, Church’s lyrics remained edgy, real and original. ‘Give Me Back My Hometown‘ is a song that almost anyone can relate to, and the song definitely takes us back to reliving a few high school memories. ‘A Man Who Was Gonna Die Young‘ is immensely personal, and this song has rebel written all over it. But in the quiet verses, it’s evident that Church has a special woman worth living for.
