After watching the premiere of the Bachelorette all I could think was … “Poor Emily!”

Did ABC go to a d-bag convention to do the casting? And did all the guys go to the same Super Cuts Jimmy Clausen did? Because what’s up with their hair? But more importantly, what’s up guys bringing an egg, a boom box, a glass slipper, and a helicopter to meet her?

There are some roses among the thorns on there however. Such as Dough, the single dad who wooed Emily with a letter from his son. He was keeping it real and has values that Emily wants and deserves, hence the reason he got the first impression rose.

But after touring Emily’s Bachelorette pad in Charlotte, she should have said screw the guys and just picked the house. The South Charlotte palace has a pool so big it’s like a water park and botanical garden in the backyard, a ballroom (perfect for rose ceremonies), an elevator, and even urinals in the bathroom! Check it out … It’s on the market if you have 6 million dollars to spare.

Though we all know very well, a monstrosity of a mansion isn’t worth anything if you’re living in it alone.

Emily was reluctant to accept the role as Bachelorette at first, but they were willing to bring the show to her in Charlotte and work around her daughter’s needs … so why not? It’s kinda like filling out a national classified ad or match.com profile. But I can tell you that between the house and production, it’s good for the Charlotte economy. So regardless we should be thanking Emily!

And I commend her for putting on a poker face when cheesy guys came out of the limo.

I can’t decide what’s worse, too much testosterone or estrogen in a household.
When Kalon arrived in a helicopter all the guys started being catty and hating on him like a bunch of girls. Worry about yourself and Emily, guys!

And what is up with the dramatic music during the rose ceremony? Is it a reality show, or horror movie? And then Chris Harrison comes out and makes a dramatic speech about the last rose (duh, we can see it, Captain Obvious)

I can’t wait to watch next week because I want to see more of our city … and see which guy she told to get the (bleep) out in the preview. I’m guessing its helicopter guy!

It all start with Mike Penney’s idea to get the kids to talk to the camera in a documentary that would be used for the schools film festival.  What the kids didn’t know is that the teachers would be dancing behind them until they saw the video themselves at the film fest.  From there the video went viral and now has over 346,000 views!

Supposedly Ellen has even contacted the teacher for a possible visit on the show.  A lot of people have made comments under the post and i think they have a great point and that is the kids will look back one day and appreciate the High School years.

BIG SEXY

During the conversation, the 79-year-old country music legend discussed his new album Heroes,, his recent collaboration with Snoop Dogg, his first big break, working with the legendary Patsy Cline (“she’s great…the best singer out there”), and more.

Jimmy asked Willie about his well-worn guitar (named “Trigger,” after Roy Rogers’ horse), which is famous for its large hole. “Even with a hole in it it still sounds…good?” Jimmy asks. Willie responds, “Well, I think it sounds better.”

It’s hard to fit a lot into a five-minute interview, but Fallon was also able to get in a question about Willie’s tour bus, which runs on biofuel. Willie is, among other things, a biofuel activist, and so he discussed his opinion that farmers should grow both our food and our fuel. As Willie puts it, there’s “no need” anymore to “[go] around the world startin’ wars over oil.”

Willie played two songs live on the show as well. One was an unforgettable seven-minute performance of “Texas Flood” (the blues standard made famous by Stevie Ray Vaughan). The performance featured Willie’s 22-year-old son Lukas Nelson, who’s also an impressive guitar player. (Lukas sings and plays on nine of the 14 tracks on Heroes.)

Glee has a reputation for dealing with the tough issues teens and parents face, always bringing them to the forefront. This episode was no exception as it dealt with abuse and bullying, and Taylor Swift’s “Mean” was a sure and appropriate fit.

In a nutshell, here’s a quick set-up for the video performance.

Coach Beiste had finally owned up to the fact that her black eye wasn’t the result of sparring with a punching bag, and that her new husband had hit her. Of course, he promised it won’t ever happen again. She told her husband, Cooter (Eric Bruskotter) that she’s “done,” sets her ring on the table when Cooter explodes, asking her, “Who will love you now?” “Me,” she tells him, and walks out.

Puck is failing Geography, may not graduate, and just went Dumpster diving after being ganged up on by ‘Rick the Stick’ and his hockey buddies. Puck tries to keep his cool, while Rick points out that “You won’t be graduating” and “you’re gonna turn into that older guy who tries to pick up high school girls at the convenience store, a true ‘Lima Loser.’”

Coach Beiste breaks up the fight and hauls Puck into the locker room. Behind the closed doors of that locker room, Puck blows up, yelling about how he feels like a joke, a failure, every day of his life. How his dad must be really proud of him now, because he turned out ‘just like him.’ He breaks down into tears, and apologizes to Beiste. She wraps her arms around him and says, “You and me are badasses. No one thinks anything hurts us, but it does.”

ROAD CLOSED

But, since the actual road closure is not apparent until you go around a bend, a lot of drivers go just to see if the road is *really* closed.  After they see that the road really is closed, they start making their way back. Their embarrassment is made worse by another sign right behind the ROAD CLOSED sign, but facing them on their return. The new sign reads:

TOLD YOU SO!

How many times has our conscience, parents or wise advisors told us that a path we were travelling was a dead end? That in essence, the road was closed yet we travelled it anyway.
